What this generator makes

Switch to A5 portrait and use a lighter line color for compact notes or handmade notebook pages.
Verify physical scale when printing
The PDF encodes the page and grid in physical units. Printer dialogs can still rescale the document, so select actual size or 100% rather than fit to page. Measure several squares together for a more reliable check than measuring one thin line interval.
If the printer cannot reach the selected margin, increase the margin instead of scaling the whole page. This preserves the 5 mm spacing.

How many 5 mm squares fit across A4 paper?
A4 is 210 mm wide. With 10 mm margins on both sides, the 190 mm grid area fits 38 intervals across.
Why are some lines darker?
The default makes every fifth line stronger, creating 25 mm guide blocks. You can change the interval or choose matching colors.
Will fit-to-page preserve 5 mm squares?
Not necessarily. Use actual size or 100% scaling to preserve physical spacing.
